Isolated phase busbars

Backed by over 40 years of expertise in the design, production, and installation of isolated phase busbars, we deliver systems supporting rated currents up to 16,000 A and insulation levels up to 24 kV. Our product range includes single-phase isolated busbars and both segregated and non-segregated three-phase isolated configurations.

Essential in power plant operations, isolated phase busbars enable reliable current transmission from generators to transformers and form critical connections to auxiliary equipment like excitation transformers, station service transformers, disconnect switches, and grounding points).

In comparison to non-isolated systems, isolated phase busbars offer distinct benefits. They achieve a marked reduction in magnetic fields and decrease the mechanical forces exerted on conductors, which prevents inter-phase short circuits. Additionally, they improve safety for personnel and contribute to a longer service life of the product.

Isolated phase busbars

Our busbars are specifically engineered to meet customer requirements, employing both analytical and numerical tools to comply with IEC and ANSI standards, such as IEC 62271-1, IEC 62271-200, IEC 60060-2, IEC 60694, IEC 60865-1, ANSI C37.20, and ANSI C37.23. We perform comprehensive type testing, including heating tests, impulse voltage tests, and short-circuit current testing, to ensure reliable performance of each busbar.

The components integrated into isolated busbars include standard elements such as support and conductive insulators, along with specialized equipment like current and voltage transformers and surge arresters. When required, busbar systems can also be equipped with a pressurization system to sustain positive pressure within the enclosure or an air dryer for optimal conditions.

Our design and manufacturing capabilities encompass the full range of support structures for isolated busbars.

Our production process includes every stage, from preparation, machining, and welding to assembly and anti-corrosion protection (AKZ). Busbars are prefabricated into sections for efficient on-site interconnection. We oversee the complete field installation process, managing all aspects through to final commissioning.
